PSHE Policy
Our school believes that the development of personal, social, health education and citizenship is a life long and continuous process. It is concerned with personal growth and human issues. It provides opportunities for the development of the individual within themselves, their communities and the wider world.
The school curriculum should aim to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve. It should promote pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and prepare all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.
These aims for the school curriculum cannot be achieved without a wide range of experiences and opportunities provided through the PSHE and citizenship curriculum.

Mathematics Policy
In its broadest sense, mathematics provides a means for organising, communicating and manipulating information. The special power of mathematics lies in its capacity not just to describe and explain, but also to predict.
Mathematics should be a source of delight and wonder, offering intellectual excitement for example in the discovery of relationships, the pursuit of rigour and the achievement of elegant solutions. Pupils should also appreciate the essential creativity of mathematics; it is a live subject, which is continually evolving as technology, and the needs of society evolve.
Although mathematics is to some extent hierarchical, it is more useful to see it as a network of ideas in which the various parts are interrelated to form a coherent structure.
In line with the government’s proposals for the teaching and learning of mathematics, the school has adopted the National Numeracy Strategy, which gives a clear framework for teachers to work from. In addition to the daily mathematics lesson the school will also timetable a further session devoted purely to investigative mathematics.

Assessment Policy
Assessment is a continuous process that provides information on the achievements of a child in relation to clearly defined National criteria.
Assessment is an integral part of our planning, evaluating, recording and reporting cycle. It identifies what the child knows and can do and provides information to guide future teaching and learning in response to a child's individual and/or group needs.
Its process is a core part of our whole teaching and learning programme.
