School Trips

On the 22nd September 2011, we walked along to our local church in Dunston where the Reverend David Atkinson met us. While we were there we explored the inside of the church and learned lots about baptism.

In this picture you can see Mum (Teri), Dad (Ewan), Godmothers (Courtney and Tilly) and three Godfathers (Ryan, Bradley G and Connor). They are using the doll to act out the christening of baby Rose.

DSC02550.JPG Here is Reverend David at the font using the holy water to baptise baby Rose. He made the sign of a cross on the forehead of the baby to show that the child now belongs to the church.

The children in year two had a fantastic afternoon at clasper towers adventure playground.

Year 4 have been on a trip to Ikea to help us with our topic on recycling. We looked around the shop and the warehouse and we were shown how a large business recycles all their waste.

On Tuesday 15th March 2011, Year 4 represented our school at the Gateshead Schools Dance Festival at The Sage. The children felt quite nervous before they danced on the stage because there were hundreds of people in the audience. However, when they started to dance, all of the nerves disappeared and they were BRILLIANT!

We went to Shildon Museum to learn about trains. This was linked to our History topic about George Stephenson. We had a workshop where we had to order older trains up to newer trains. We had fun pretending to be the carriages on the train and shouted 'all aboard' when we were ready!

Year 1 listening to information about the paintings.

We went to Shipley Art Gallery to learn about Portraits. While we were there we had lots of fun using a picture frame to guess the feeling being portrayed by each member of our class. We also copied some of the paintings to make our own portrait pictures with pencils.

Year Three were very lucky to be involved in a project organised by The Prince's Trust. They worked with two artists from the Baltic and learnt how to create prints. They made a book of their own story called "The Adventures of Abigail". They were then invited to London for an exhibition of work from all of the schools involved in the project.
